Grade 8 Visit to the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine
On Friday, January 13th Jefferson Village School 8th graders attended the Jewish Resistance During the Holocaust educational program after reading the novel Night by Elie Weisel. This program took place at the beautiful Michael Klahr Center at the University of Maine in Augusta, which also has exhibits and art work available for the students to view. The presentation included a slide show, information delivered by a HHRC educator, followed by discussion and the opportunity to view artifacts and exhibits in the center. Students were lucky to also view the Reflections on Genocide Exhibit, a collaboration of Casco Bay Hight School and the University of Maine and add their little bit of expression on the wall titled, “Help Design the Future of Brave Communities. The Holocaust and Human Right Center (HHRC) offers programs free of charge to schools across Maine, and is also open to the public.
