Ms. Tracy’s class had a special guest at our monthly FARMS class. Brendan owner of Morning Dew Farms helped us harvest some vegetables that he donated to our greenhouse to add into a ramen recipe. Students also made delicious spring rolls and a dipping sauce. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and community partners.

Ms. Tracy and Mr. Sal’s class learned about the history of the Macy’s Day Parade after reading Balloons Across Broadway. Students created their own balloons out of styrofoam, cardboard, and other art supplies. The students proudly marched through the hallway led by the GSB cougar!

The 3/4 multiage is finishing up our "Birth of Rocks" unit, and we have really enjoyed it! Students participated in a variety of experiences to gain insight into how weather impacts the Earth over time. Students used Mystery Science videos and experiments to track locations of volcanoes, model erosion, and investigate sedimentary rocks. We were visited by Teralyn Reiter of Children's Storytree Theatre who led them through performing a series of tableaus where students act out how weather events change land. Mr. Nick brought in VR Headsets so we could get up close to volcanoes by flying over them in helicopters. We were fortunate on our monthly visit to HVNC to learn about Beavers, a keystone species, whose recent activity near the Barn allowed students to see how animals can also change landscapes. And, of course, we crafted a bit too!
